The article is devoted to cases of natural meteorological phenomena that were observed on the territory of Ukraine during 2025, which are placed in the relevant observation materials of the Central Geophysical Observatory named after Borys Sreznevsky. The aim of the article was to identify and analyze cases of natural meteorological phenomena and the territory of Ukraine during the past 2025. A number of natural hydrometeorological phenomena (SHP) were identified for individual months of the cold and warm periods of the year, their recurrence and their contribution to the total number for the year were established. It was found that in 2025, the most frequent cases of meteorological natural phenomena were observed during heavy rains and heavy fogs.
Most of the heavy rainfall and other natural phenomena that reached the SGH criterion were due to the synoptic situation, namely the passage of active cyclone fronts, the emergence of warm cyclone sectors, or the alternation of ridges and troughs. Sometimes high-altitude or slow-moving cyclones were observed over the territory of Ukraine, which led to heavy rainfall. Very often, cyclone fronts moved from the northwest to the northeast and east. In some cases, during heavy rainfall in the territory of Ukraine, a low-gradient field of increased pressure was observed when fronts were located in the west, east, and northeast, and in other cases under the influence of fronts from the southwest cyclone.
In addition, cases of natural phenomena were observed among cases of hail, snowfall, winds (squalls), and ice-ice phenomena. For individual natural hydrometeorological phenomena, cases of their mass manifestation on the territory of Ukraine were identified. The most frequent mass distribution of such phenomena was observed among cases of heavy rain and fogs.
Territorially, the majority of the established cases of SHP during 2025 were observed in the regions of the western part of Ukraine, mainly in Zakarpattia and Ivano-Frankivsk, sometimes in Chernivtsi, Ternopil and Lviv regions. Several individual cases of SHP were observed in Khmelnytskyi, Zhytomyr, Kyiv and Sumy regions. Among individual meteorological stations, Plai and Pozhezhevsk stand out in terms of the number of SHP cases.
